From our Head Trainer - Edmond Kan

My Story, G3 Story.

I was born on the Year of the Dog and raised in London, England, to Hong Kong Chinese parents. As a boy I always wanted to own a dog and I guess I was one of the many children who wanted that 'puppy in the window'.

However, through my formal education and graduating at a respectable University, my beginnings of what I am now today started from London and walking dogs part-time while I was still a student.

As I got to know trainers and animal professionals in England, I was exposed to 2 main schools of thought; which in my opinion, are still the two extremes in dog training methods and philosophy.

I was originally influenced by the 'Positive, Positive, Positive' approach. At one point, I believed this to be the beginning and the end of dog training. Give a dog a treat and you can get what you want to achieve. If that doesn't work, use a bigger treat.

On the other hand, I've seen and worked dogs that have been successfully trained the 'hard way'. As a man once said to me, "This training ain't for fairies". It's harsh, and the best dogs are the ones that make their way through it all.

As for my own personal belief now, I remain in continuous search for what works best and that is somewhere that lies in the middle; and VERY marginally skewed towards a postive non-confrontation approach.

I am lucky enough to live in a world where information is shared throughout the world. Whether it's a course or seminar 8,000 miles away, I can hop on a plane and hear what that person has to say and teach, and most importantly give me the opportunity to learn what that person has gained through his or her experiences.. Books, videos, and of course the internet provides a huge pool of information where we can share ideas and methodology; however these forms of media (due to it's vastness) can often be overwhelming, uninformative or 'out-of-date' for the pet dog owner.

My goal as a Trainer, is to always further my knowledge and to keep an open mind. For the benefit of my clients and also for my own personal passion and fascination for dogs. I strive on the premise that there is always another way to do something, however at this moment in time, it is the best way that I know how. I also admire the people out there in the world who have been, and are, so kindly willing to share their years of experience, mistakes, successes and achievements with me.

I think it is wrong for some trainers, which includes some owners, (as owners are the trainers of their own dogs) to blind themselves from the development of dog training. I am proud to say that if you took a course with me 2 years ago, and you took a course with me now, I would definitely be teaching you a few more new things today. Because, change is good. Change is a development and growth and it proceeds on a course that makes our ways more efficient, more workable and more humane. Because, if I didn't change, then I wouldn't really be doing my job.

China

My goal in China is to push the boundaries of what the dog community currently offers in services. To provide the best services from Luxurious Dog Hotel Boarding facilities to the most up-to-date Training methods in the world.

I understand that dog owners do not necessarily have the time to train their dog 5 times a day or have the ambition to achieve a competition-level trained dog. However, I know that some people just want their dog to come back to them when they call; and this is where I believe I can teach in a few simple basic steps to guide you through the understanding and the principles of communicating and training your dog. The end result is a dog that clearly understand exactly what it is that you want.

We offer a wide range of services including group classes, one to one lessons, handling dogs with problem behaviors and aggression, fun trick training and various workshops for dog owners on basic and more advanced dog training. I teach both indoors and outdoors, in your home and in your environment. No request is too extreme, and no dog is not worth training.

You will always be offered a warm welcome to all of our services. Whatever breed of dog you have, and whatever the age, I hope you will benefit from the help that I or my colleagues can provide.

Thank you for choosing us, and I look forward to working with you soon.
